code: onlo selmer model: djazz guitar serialnr/date: 1938 a great example of a maccaferri inspired jazz guitar ,used thoughout his carreer by a certain django r. this one is one of the few remaing examples of a round soundhole models., these were finished in an around 1938 by selmer in paris after mario maccaferri had left them.i think this is one of theolder bodies that was left lying around. mario maccaferri was a classical player himself.this type of soundhole sits in between the other 2 types of selmer, and has the best of both..the top is very thin and resonat ,and yet has not curved or caved anywhere. a combination of bracing ,the use of top quality timbers ,and another trick which is i have deduced..to split the topwood rather than sawing it... |
