made in 1958 ,this small bodied flattop was in the first series that gibson made under the epiphone brand ,the neck ,its profile and heel shape are still typically epi,while the body is like an equivalent gibson, sunburst finish,X-braced ,responds with a pleasant ring to being strummed.in pretty good condition ,is being setup with good low action..
a great little songwriters tool.

serial number says that this was made in 1940, the last year for this epiphone jumbo ,of which few were made.it started out a a hawaiian guitar ( with a round neck and inlaid frets.the only change s made are frets , alower nut and a specially designed intonated saddle.tailpiec is original to this guitar .straight bracing gives it lots of volume and power.
this is similar to the gibson roy smeck model which i recently came across...
i might sell it...

a rare and early stella type guitar, favoured by early bluesmen (such as leadbelly and blind lemon jefferson) and becoming more and more recognized by modern collectors ,this instrument has a 11 string configuration,judging from the markings on the bridge it was used in 5 doubles with a single high E configuration for most of it's life. i read somewhere that lyon nad healey made an 11 string at the beginning of the 20th century ,which was strung with 4 doubles and three single top strings.looking at the tailpiece this may have been intended.this has now been restored and palys well with a good action.with a thumb pick one can get that early stella sound.back and sides were made of birch with faux -rosewood grain painting, research has shown that this guitar was probably made by lyon and healy around 1910...

a rare and interesting double topped guitar by rovies in paris.ca 1950, made according to the model of gelas ,who made many mandolins with double top, those do not necesarily play very well as they aften have narrow necks.this guitar however is a great sounding instrument ,one of those guitars whose power and sound never fails to impress me when i pick it up! top has been refinished (french polished) has new ,high quality machineheads with ebony buttons and a selmer type tailpiece.
